Some notes I took from listening to Lisa Congdon on Standing Out, Imposter Syndrome, & Your Artistic Voice on Side Hustler’s Perspective Podcast.
Make art that you are interested in or fascinated by in the world.
Focus on what you are thinking about.
Everyone suffers from imposter syndrome.
Play the long game, it takes time in order to get proficient.
Show up and do work, it doesn’t happen overnight.
Your artistic voice is not the final destination – it evolves.
Refine and expand on what you are doing. Explore your personal interests.
Start with the the spark. Desire to make stuff.
Experimentation/failure
Be vulnerable.
We aspire to make better
There is a beginning gap. Our taste is more acquired than our skills.
Show up and continue to show up.
You will experience doubts/be bored/be discouraged/question things.
Take breaks and write down thoughts.
If you work through your doubts, it can lead to creative break throughs.
All artists, designers, entrepreneurs experience this.
Do not give up. There is no such thing as overnight success.
